Life Skills Program
In 2010, Mountain Home Montana began utilizing the Ansell Casey Life Skills Program. The Ansell Casey Life Skills program allows us to determine residents’ current skills, help them achieve new skills and track their progress in the program. The Ansell Casey Life Skills Program focuses on skills in ten areas:
- Housing
- Independence
- Money Management
- Parenting
- Health
- Nutrition
- Employment
- Education
- Legal
- Mental Health
During weekly case management, residents discuss their achievements, goals, and strategies to reach those goals. In addition, residents attend Life Skills Class every Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Staff, volunteers and community groups teach the residents classes on subjects ranging from money management, basic car maintenance, tenant rights, family planning, and nutrition among others.
These skills areas are met through 24-hour staff support and supervision, individual case management, Life Skills Classes, Parenting Classes, Secondary Parenting Source, Public Health Nursing Program, mental health services, job training program, education enrollment, and resource and referral services.
